Born in Durant, OK, Miles was fortunate to be raised in an artistic family. At the age of eight, he asked for a guitar and his life would never be the same. Around this time he also made his stage debut in a college production directed by his father. It seems Miles was always destined to lead his dual life of actor and musician. His school years were spent bussing tables to save for his Les Paul, playing with various rock bands, teaching guitar lessons and performing in school and community theater productions.
After graduating from Edmond Memorial High School, Miles studied Musical Theater at the University of Miami (FL). Several shows at North Shore Music Theater gave Miles his Equity card, but he chose instead to move to Nashville to focus on his musical side.
The "Athens of the South" proved to be a perfect spot for Miles, allowing him to pursue both of his loves. Over the twelve years there, Miles was lead guitarist and band leader for several major label artists, touring North America and sharing the stage with the biggest acts in country music. He also made a few dozen appearances on the Grand Ole Opry, collaborated with several hit songwriters, and was active in the session scene as a guitarist and keyboardist.
On the acting side, Miles kept busy with work at regional theaters such as Tennessee Rep, Casa Manana, Goodspeed, Flat Rock Playhouse and Charlotte Rep. He also did several shows at the historic Ryman Auditorium, the most significant one being A Christmas Carol....where he played opposite his future wife, Erica Rowlett.
Carving out a niche as the go-to-guy for "actor-musician" work, he is well versed in Shakespeare and traditional music theater. In addition, Miles' original music has been heard in several regional productions.
Proving that "the best laid plans...", Miles had an epiphany in 2005 to put acting aside and give music his full focus. Less than one year later, he was moving to New York to make his Broadway debut in Ring of Fire. After a few stints playing guitar/keyboards in orchestra pits, Miles was cast as Norm Waxman in the 1st national tour of Jersey Boys. During his almost two years on the road, Miles appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, sang the National Anthem at the Minnesota Twins home opener and played to record audiences in some of the great theaters across the country.
Miles was asked to join the Broadway company of Jersey Boys in the summer of '08, where he can currently be seen playing Norm Waxman eight shows a week at the August Wilson Theatre.
